Woman arrested after fatal hit-and-run investigation in Glendale

PHOENIX — A 25-year-old woman was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in June, authorities said Wednesday.

Pedestrian Tony Marie Gonzales, 21, was reportedly thrown several feet when struck near 71st Avenue and Bell Road on June 23. She died from her injuries at the hospital.

Katiya Deja Clark, 25, was identified as the suspect after a weekslong investigation.

What led to woman’s arrest in fatal hit-and-run investigation?

Police did not immediately have a description of the vehicle that fled the scene after the collision.

An investigation that included video evidence led to an identification of the vehicle involved. Police used that information to track down Clark as their suspect.

Clark spoke to detectives during the investigation, according to the Glendale Police Department.

She was booked on felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident when death is involved.
