Man killed by gunfire from passing vehicle in Phoenix

A man died after he was struck in a drive-by shooting on Wednesday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

A man died after he was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle on Wednesday morning in Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers with the Phoenix Police Department responded to the scene near Interstate 17 and Central Avenue at 9:15 a.m.

They found the victim, 43-year-old Eddie Carrillo, who was brought to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The suspect — or suspects — in the drive-by shooting have not been identified.

Homicide detectives with Phoenix PD’s Violent Crimes Bureau have taken over the investigation. They urge anyone with information about this crime to call 911 or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish speakers.
