PHOENIX — A family of four was killed in an explosive house fire in a Phoenix suburb early Wednesday morning.
A woman and three children died in the blaze near 51st and Peoria avenues. The body of a high school-aged girl was found in the rubble hours afterward.
Glendale Police Sgt. Scott Waite said witnesses heard an explosion around 1:30 a.m.
By the time fire crews arrived the house was in flames and the roof had collapsed.

Neighbor Candy Rodriguez lives across the street. She said her son played with the two boys.
“I was so worried about the kids inside with the mom. We knew them all. We’ve lived here for a long time. Such a nice family. It’s sad. I have a 10-year-old boy siting in his room crying. He was friends with the twins. This is just a tragedy.”
Authorities said two bodies were found in the back of the home and the other two were in the front near doors and windows.
“I can only imagine the panic they felt while they were trying to get out,” Waite said.
No other details, including the identities of the family, were immediately available.
