Excessive heat warning issued in Phoenix on Monday as temperatures could reach 114 degrees

PHOENIX — An excessive heat warning in the Valley was issued for Monday as temperatures could reach 114 degrees.

The warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are forecasted to dip down to 111 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday before chances of rain begin to increase heading into the middle of the week.

On Sunday afternoon, the highest chances for measurable rain in the Valley fell on Wednesday at 25% then dipped down to 20% on Thursday and Friday.

Daily highs will reach 112 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, 111 degrees on Thursday and Friday and 109 degrees on Saturday with the days expected to be mostly sunny.

Phoenix will close Camelback Mountain’s Echo and Cholla trails and all trails associated with Piestewa Peak Trailhead from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the excessive heat warning in effect.

The closure of popular trails began last summer during excessive heat warning days to reduce deaths and injuries and to protect rescue personnel.
