One boy is dead and another victim is in the hospital after shots were fired in the West Valley suburb of El Mirage on Monday night.

PHOENIX – One boy is dead and another victim is in the hospital after shots were fired in the West Valley suburb of El Mirage on Monday night, authorities said.
Officers responded to several gunshot calls in a neighborhood near El Mirage and Thunderbird roads just after 8 p.m., according to the El Mirage Police Department.
They located one victim at the scene. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
During the investigation, police learned that another juvenile was at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. The second victim is expected to survive.
The ages of the victims were not released.
Police said there is no threat to the community related to the case. The investigation is ongoing.
