Search for missing person in Tempe Town Lake scaled back after divers find nothing

Fire rescue divers searched the water beneath the Rural Road Bridge at Tempe Town Lake on Monday but turned up no sign of a missing person.

Tempe Fire Medical Rescue divers conducted a comprehensive search of the area Monday morning following reports of someone entering the water, but no one was located.

There were no additional recovery efforts scheduled as of about 3:20 p.m. Monday, according to authorities.

First responders initially received reports of a person in the lake around 1 a.m. Witnesses told officials they saw someone go underwater near the Rural Road Bridge.

Officers and firefighters conducted an initial search before first responders transitioned the response into a recovery operation.

The Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department said there are currently no reports of a missing person connected to the incident.
