PHOENIX — Get ready to sing “Thinking Out Loud” with thousands of your friends: Ed Sheeran has announced a stop in the Phoenix area on his latest tour.

The popular British-born singer said Wednesday that he would play a concert at Gila River Arena in Glendale on Aug. 5.

The arena tweeted that tickets will go on sale March 17. However, there is a sign-up on Sheeran’s website for access to a presale that begins March 13.

No pricing was available.

For Valley residents who are unable to make the August concert, Sheeran will also play in several relatively nearby cities. He will be in Las Vegas on Aug. 4, San Diego on Aug. 6, Los Angeles on Aug. 10 and Denver on Aug. 15.

Sheeran has become a musical sensation since being discovered in early 2011 by Jamie Foxx and Elton John.

He has released three studio albums. His first, “+” (plus), went septuple platinum in the United Kingdom. His second scored him two Grammy awards.

His latest album, called “÷” (divide), was released in January. He was the first artist ever to have two singles, “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” debut in the top 10 in the United States.

Sheeran has been nominated for 104 total awards in his young career and has won 44 of them.

In addition to his accolades, Sheeran has endeared himself to his fans through his willingness to reach out and spend time with them along with his charity work.
