PHOENIX — Eastbound Interstate 10 in Buckeye reopened Thursday morning after temporarily closing due to a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian, transportation officials said.

The closure went into effect at 1:30 a.m. and ended around 7 a.m. The crash happened near Verrado Way, and drivers were being taken off at Watson Road.

Authorities said the crash happened when a vehicle crossed into the right shoulder and hit a male pedestrian walking in the area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved in the crash has not been identified.
