2 seriously injured in dune buggy-style go-cart collision in Peoria

Two people were seriously injured in a collision involving a dune buggy-style go-cart on Saturday morning in Peoria, authorities said.

The Peoria Police Department responded to the serious collision near 107th Avenue and Union Hills Drive around 10:10 a.m.

The two occupants were transported by Sun City Fire and Medical Department to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to police.

Authorities said the patients are now alert and awake, and the roadway is open.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
