Ducey allocates $715,000 of COVID-19 relief for Arizona families in need

PHOENIX —  Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced Monday that $715,000 from the Arizona Coronavirus Relief Fund would be allocated to 19 organizations in the state to support families in need.

The organizations that were selected provide a number of services for the community like food and basic living assistance, employment support, education materials, short-term housing and health services.

“Organizations across the state have worked tirelessly to make sure Arizonans are kept safe and healthy,” Ducey said in a press release. “From providing hot meals to housing assistance, education support and much more, our communities have come together to help one another during the pandemic.”

The recipients included the Salvation Army, Helping Hands for Freedom, Phoenix Indian Center, Greater Phoenix Urban League, Homeward Bound and more.

“This round of grants to a diverse set of organizations will help our most vulnerable neighbors statewide by providing rent and mortgage assistance, meals, mental health services, transportation, basic hygiene and clothing, and much more,” Arizona Coronavirus Relief Fund Committee Chair Eileen Klein said.

The Arizona Coronavirus Relief Fund was established by the governor in March as part of the Arizona Together Initiative to help provide financial support to organizations that serve Arizonans through the coronavirus pandemic.

To date, the fund has collected more than $9.8 million.
