Driver stops car going wrong way on Phoenix-area freeway

PHOENIX – A driver with a sense of duty managed to stop someone going the wrong way on a Phoenix-area freeway late Wednesday, authorities said.

No was injured during the encounter on Loop 303 near Interstate 17.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said troopers had been called about a car heading eastbound in westbound lanes on the loop around 11:25 p.m.

By the time patrol officers arrived, the wrong-way driver had been sidelined.

That driver was taken into custody.

No other details were immediately available.
