1 driver dead, 1 brought to hospital after collision in Phoenix

A male driver died after a Monday morning collision in Phoenix, authorities said. The other driver was brought to a hospital as a precaution.

A man died after a Monday morning collision between a van and a semi-truck in Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers with the Phoenix Police Department responded to the scene near 25th Avenue and Buckeye Road shortly after 7:20 a.m.

They found the driver of the van, 48-year-old Jared Paul Tobler, unresponsive. Although the Phoenix Fire Department brought him to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead.

The semi-truck driver was also brought to a hospital as a precaution, police said.

Investigators believe the collision occurred after Tobler turned left in front of the semi-truck.
