Suspect dead after being shot by DPS troopers in southern Arizona

A suspect is dead after being shot by troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety on Monday morning, authorities said.

DPS has not said what led up to the shooting, but the agency said the incident began as a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 10 near Benson, around 50 miles southeast of Tucson.

No DPS troopers were injured in the incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public, DPS said.
