PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Public Safety said 30 DUI arrests were made in the state this New Year’s holiday.

The holiday was defined as beginning Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. and ending Jan. 1 at 6 a.m.

There were 23 DUI arrests made in the same timeframe last New Year’s holiday.

State law enforcement has made an effort to put more officers and deputies on the roads throughout the holidays in an effort to crack down on drunken driving.
