Woman charged month after man dies in downtown Phoenix stabbing

PHOENIX — A 49-year-old woman was charged with murdering a 29-year-old man in a downtown Phoenix stabbing on Dec. 15, authorities said Friday.

Lupe Teresa Perez was already in police custody for an unrelated charge when anonymous tips regarding the stabbing pointed to her involvement, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police said she confessed in an interview to stabbing the man.

The Phoenix Police Department responded around 10 p.m. to a report of an “unresponsive man” located near Roosevelt Street and Central Avenue.

The man, who was later identified as Jaquail Dillard, was found with a stab wound. With the Phoenix Fire Department also on the scene, Dillard was provided with medical treatment but died from his injuries.
