PHOENIX — A man is dead and woman is in the hospital after a domestic violence shooting incident in Buckeye on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to a shooting call in a neighborhood near McDowell Road and Sienna Hills Parkway around 10:45 a.m. and learned of two gunshot victims, according to the Buckeye Police Department.

They found a man and woman in their early 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman was shot in the back and the man apparently shot himself in the head, police said.

The man, 23-year-old Jayden Kidd, sustained life-threatening injuries and died after being taken to a hospital. He is considered the suspect in the domestic violence shooting, police said.

The woman, meanwhile, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The pair are believed to be former romantic partners.

No other details were made available. The investigation is ongoing.
