US Marshals deploy grappler to stop Mesa shooting suspect in Flagstaff

A man accused of shooting at his romantic partner’s father in Mesa on Thursday was arrested later that day in Flagstaff, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Isiah Martin allegedly fired multiple rounds during a domestic dispute, authorities said.

After Martin fled, the Mesa Police Department asked the U.S. Marshals Task Force for help. Investigators believed he was headed to Colorado and tracked him to the Flagstaff area.

Martin was found driving east on Interstate 40. After he exited the freeway, authorities stopped his vehicle using a Grappler device.

The Grappler is mounted on the front bumper of a patrol car and deploys a heavy-duty nylon net to disable a fleeing vehicle.

Investigators found a firearm in the vehicle, authorities said. Martin was turned over to the Mesa Police Department.

He was booked into jail on charges of drive-by shooting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within city limits.
