Renovated Dennis DeConcini Park in Avondale reopens

PHOENIX — Dennis DeConcini Park in Avondale reopened to the public this week, according to a news release.

The park, located near Fourth Street and Western Avenue, celebrated its reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday. The park is named after former U.S. Senator Dennis DeConcini who served Arizona from 1977 to 1995.

The park’s new features include:

• Two picnic ramadas with grills
• One large group ramada
• A new playground with shade
• Ninja exercise court
• Resurfaced basketball court
• Improved irrigation system and landscaping
• Improved drainage
• LED lights and security systems.

The park is open to the public seven days a week from 6 a.m.- 9 p.m.

The project to renovate the park was partially funded through the American Rescue Plan Act and a $500,000 Land, Water and Conservation Fund grant from Arizona State Parks & Trails.
