Democratic candidate Joe Biden to visit Arizona after Labor Day
Joe Biden is planning a visit to Arizona and other battleground states after Labor Day in what will likely be the Democratic presidential candidate's first major campaign events since locking up the nomination.

PHOENIX — Joe Biden is planning a visit to Arizona and other battleground states after Labor Day in what will likely be the Democratic presidential candidate’s first major campaign events since locking up the nomination.
Biden listed Arizona as one of four states he was planning to visit.
“We plan on, without jeopardizing or violating state rules about how many people can in fact assemble,” Biden told a group of donors. “One of the things we’re thinking about is I’m going to be going up to Wisconsin, and Minnesota, spending time in Pennsylvania, out in Arizona.”
Details about the date or specific plans regarding Biden’s visit were immediately unclear.
A Biden spokesman in Arizona declined to comment about the nature of the former vice president’s plans.
Biden hasn’t visited Arizona since all but locking up the Democratic nomination in late March.
He was supposed to face off with U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders in a Democratic debate in Phoenix on March 15, but the event was canceled due to coronavirus.
An OH Predictive Insights poll released in early August found Biden up 49%-45%, but it was the third consecutive poll President Donald Trump had whittled down the difference.
In a similar poll in July, Biden was ahead 49%-44%. In May, he led 50%-43%.
Trump has visited Arizona a handful of times in the months leading up to November’s election.
He was most recently in Arizona last week, where he slammed Biden’s immigration plan and touted continued construction of the border wall during a campaign speech in Yuma.
