Police arrest suspect in deadly shooting in downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX — A suspect in a deadly shooting in downtown Phoenix last month has been arrested, authorities announced Saturday.

At 12:38 a.m. on April 27, officers responded to a call near First and McKinley streets regarding a shooting, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

They found Jiehiason Lane, 26, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel took the victim to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Investigators worked to identify Jose Garcia III, 23, as the suspect and arrested him on May 5 on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Authorities said there are no outstanding suspects.
