Suspect opens fire on DEA agents during a narcotics investigation in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration were shot at in Phoenix on Tuesday, according to authorities.

The agents were conducting a narcotics investigation near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street, a DEA spokesperson said.

During the operation, one of the two suspects they were investigating allegedly opened fire on the agents, who weren’t injured.

Both suspects were taken into custody, and agents recovered drugs and a weapon from the scene.

According to ABC15, law enforcement officers and crime scene tape were seen where the shooting occurred near a Family Dollar store.

Additionally, a vehicle there appeared to have multiple bullet holes.

The investigation remains active.
