Public asked to avoid area after shooting involving Mesa police in Chandler

An active scene is underway in Chandler after Mesa police officers were involved in a shooting on Tuesday night, authorities said.

The Mesa Police Department asked the public to avoid the area of McQueen and Frye roads, just south of Chandler Boulevard, until it is deemed safe.

The Chandler Police Department confirmed the incident was a shooting, and said it was assisting in the investigation.

Mesa police did not say what led to the shooting or if anyone was injured.
