Arizona man successfully bakes cookies in hot car during heatwave

PHOENIX — Though a June heatwave has brought blistering hot temperatures to the Phoenix area, some are taking advantage of the heat for baking purposes.
That’s the case for at least one Arizona man, who put a cookie sheet in his hot car in the parking lot at Mesa Community College. On the sheet were balls of cookie dough, which baked under the sun and glass.
With infrared thermometers, Ted Sowers (and those who accompanied him) measured one of the surfaces inside the car at 172 degrees Fahrenheit. After putting the sheet of cookies on the dash and leaving them for some time, Sowers measured the temperature of the dough at 181.
“They taste alright,” he said, after taking the cookies back inside. “I highly recommend doing this. If you have three hours to kill and your car is going to be in the hot sun for the afternoon, do it.”

This is much better than the old 'frying an egg on the sidewalk' routine.
At least you can eat the cookies
and
it shows the real heat that builds up inside of a car.
Keep your kids and pets out of parked cars.
