A man accused of burglarizing a vehicle on the side of Highway 69 called authorities to report being threatened by the truck's owner and two other men.
PHOENIX — A man accused of burglarizing a vehicle on the side of Highway 69 called authorities to report being threatened by the truck’s owner and two other men, according to Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department.
Robert Michael Jones, 25, of Glendale allegedly broke out the window of the disabled truck and stole items out of it on Nov. 21.
When the owner returned, bringing with him a spare tire and two men to get back on the road, he saw Jones leaving the area and pursued him to Rocking Lake Lane. He blocked his car in and the three men confronted the thief. Jones then called 911 asking for help.
He was booked into the Camp Verde jail on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage. Jones has denied any involvement in the crime, although the owner of the vehicle saw his duffel bag and tire iron in Jones’ car.
