PHOENIX — If you have a little spare time in April and want to help the Phoenix area host the men’s NCAA Final Four basketball tournament, your ship has arrived.
The Phoenix Local Organizing Committee said Wednesday it is looking for about 3,600 volunteers who are willing to help things run smoothly.
“We could not possibly execute this event without the time and talents of thousands of volunteers,” PLOC Executive Director and CEO Dawn Rogers said in a press release. “The volunteers are the backbone of every successful major event.
“Volunteering for the 2017 Final Four is a great way to show your pride in Arizona – and it will be a blast for everyone who pitches in.”
There are some requirements to be a volunteer: You must 18 years or older by March 1, work at least three shifts (shifts range from three to five hours), complete an application and undergo a background check. Volunteers from out of town must find their own place to stay.
For their trouble, volunteers will be given an official NCAA Final Four polo, hat and drawstring bag. They will also be invited to an post-tournament party.
Interested people can sign-up to be a volunteer on the Final Four website.
