PHOENIX – A new restaurant that’s perfect for the superhero in your life is coming to Phoenix.
Desert Ridge Marketplace announced Tuesday it will welcome the first U.S. location for ComicX, a Mexico-based comic book-themed restaurant and bar.
ComicX menus look like comic books and feature a variety of appetizers and entrees, including pizzas, salads, nachos and burgers.
But that’s just the start. The establishments also sell collectibles and are filled with memorabilia and life-sized replicas of superhero and villain characters.
“The combination of great food and unique atmosphere provides yet another opportunity for people to gather and enjoy Desert Ridge Marketplace,” Jenny Cushing, vice president of leasing for Vestar, which manages the northeast Phoenix shopping center, said in a press release.

The new location will occupy 8,000 square feet between Sweet Tomatoes and Majerle’s Sports Bar and is expected to open in the summer of 2019.
“We are excited to share the action-packed experience with the Valley,” ComicX co-founder Santiago Cota said in the release.
ComicX opened its first location in Hermosillo, Sonora, in 2010.
The chain currently operates 36 restaurants in Mexico, including one just across the Arizona border in Nogales.
Desert Ridge Marketplace offers a wide variety of dining, retail and entertainment options north of the Loop 101 at Tatum Boulevard.
