PHOENIX — A motorcyclist is dead following a crash in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a crash around 3:09 p.m. near Seventh Street and Piute Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found 39-year-old Norman Absher, who had been driving the motorcycle that had been hit by a truck. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was evaluated for impairment, but showed no signs of it.
Authorities said they believe the driver of the truck made a left turn in front of Absher, which led to the crash.
Police said the speed of the motorcycle may have contributed to the crash.
