Early-morning collision in Phoenix leaves woman dead

PHOENIX — A woman is dead following an early-morning crash in Phoenix on Saturday morning, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers and Phoenix firefighters responded to a crash around 3:50 a.m. near 75th Avenue and Madison Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a car and a semi-truck involved in the crash. The driver of the car, 31-year-old Dajahnea Pollard, was found with injuries. Life-saving efforts were made on Pollard, but she did not survive and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Authorities said they believe Pollard was driving southbound on 75th Avenue and was crossing into oncoming traffic when her vehicle collided with the semi-truck that was headed northbound. 

The investigation remains ongoing. No other information was made available.
