Closures on 3 Valley freeways highlight busy weekend of restrictions

PHOENIX — Closures on three Valley freeways, including Interstate 17, highlight a busy weekend of restrictions, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

In central Phoenix, southbound I-17 will be closed between Dunlap Avenue and 19th Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday and northbound I-17 will be closed between 19th Avenue and Peoria Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday for asphalt sealing.

The Interstate 10 ramps to southbound I-17 at the stack interchanged will be closed from 11:30 pm. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday for the same construction.

In the East Valley, the northbound Loop 101 Price Freeway will be closed between the Loop 202 Santan Freeway and Elliot Road from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday for a widening project.

Also, southbound Loop 101 will be closed near Ray Road from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday for message sign work.

In the northwest Valley, Loop 303 will be closed in both directions between I-17 and Lake Pleasant Parkway from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for APS power line construction.

In the south Valley, the eastbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway will be narrowed to one lane in areas between Estrella Boulevard and 17th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for rubberized asphalt paving.

In the West Valley, I-10 will be narrowed to three lanes in both directions between Avondale Boulevard and Dysart Road from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday for paving.

The ramps at Avondale Boulevard and Dysart Road will also be closed during that time.

In the north Valley, the westbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be narrowed to two lanes between the State Route 51 and Cave Creek Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a freeway widening project.

The northbound SR 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 will be closed during that time.

Also, I-17 will be narrowed to one or two lanes in either direction near Happy Valley Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday, Sunday and Monday nights for an interchange reconstruction project.

Finally, the Loop 101 Price Freeway will be narrowed to two or three lanes in either direction in areas between McDowell Road and Southern Avenue in parts of Scottsdale and Tempe from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday and Monday for a Valley Metro project.
