Chuck wagon cook-off returns to Chandler on Saturday

PHOENIX – One of the largest chuck wagon cooking events in the Southwest will happen in Chandler on Saturday.

The 10th annual Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-off will take place at Tumbleweed Ranch at Tumbleweed Park in partnership with the Chandler Museum.

The cook-off will have free parking, admission and activities, but the main highlight is the western-style cooking competition.

“We started the first year with just five chuck wagons and this year we will have 11 wagons,” Chandler Museum Administrator Jody Crago said in a press release. “It’s exciting to see the growth and popularity of this event in the community.”

Food is served at noon for one hour. Meal tickets are $15 each and go on sale at 10 a.m. They’re available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each wagon cooks 60 meals.

The event runs from 10 am. to 2:30 p.m. The ranch is located at 2250 S. McQueen Road.
