2 Arizona men arrested as part of investigations into child sex crimes

Two northern Arizona men were arrested last week in connection with child sex crime cases, including one involving molestation of a young child, authorities announced Tuesday.

Fred Parvin, a 74-year-old Prescott resident, is accused of possessing child sexual abuse material and engaging in sexual acts with a victim under 10 years old, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

Ricardo Gonzalez, a 45-year-old Chino Valley resident, also was arrested on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material.

The investigation into Parvin began after an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force gave sheriff’s office detectives a tip in May about child sexual abuse material linked to a Prescott home.

Sheriff’s office detectives and deputies arrested Parvin and booked him into jail on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after finding illegal content on his electronic devices. While the investigation into the case continued, Parvin was released on bond.

Detectives then found videos that showed him allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a child under 10, along with corroborating evidence. Deputies returned to his home last week and arrested Parvin, who was booked into jail Thursday on suspicion of molestation of a child.

In the other case, Gonzalez was arrested and booked into jail last Tuesday on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor after detectives found videos depicting child sex abuse on electronic devices he owned.
