Arizona man sentenced to over 150 years in prison for sexually abusing children

PHOENIX — A southern Arizona man was sentenced to 156 years in prison on Monday after being convicted of sexually abusing children, officials announced Thursday.

Peter Anthony Vonszillasy, 44, was convicted of 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a press release from the Tucson Police Department (TPD).

He was arrested in March 2024 after an investigation that began in 2023.

In November 2023, the Center for Missing and Exploited Children notified Tucson police about suspected child sexual abuse material being uploaded to a cloud storage device.

Police eventually identified Vonszillasy as the account holder.

After serving a search warrant for the account, detectives found more materials showing children being sexually abused.

Vonszillasy was not taken into custody at that time, according to the release.

Details of child sex abuse arrest

About four months later, in March 2024, TPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigations served a second search warrant, this time at Vonszillasy’s home.

Police found electronic devices at the home, along with several guns.

More pictures and videos showing children being sexually abused were found by investigators on the devices and in cloud storage.

After interviewing Vonszillasy, police took him into custody.
