Chandler doctor arrested after 2 women alleged sexual contact during exams

Two women accused a Chandler doctor of inappropriate contact during exams last year. This week, he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

Officers took Dr. Hassan Khan into custody at his home Wednesday after detectives developed probable cause, according to the Chandler Police Department.

Khan, who lives in Gilbert, was booked on one count each of sexual assault, a Class 2 felony, and sexual abuse, a Class 5 felony.

His cash-only bond was set at $75,000. He is scheduled to appear in court for a status conference Wednesday and a preliminary hearing July 17.

What is Chandler doctor accused of doing?

The investigation into Khan began in February 2025 after a patient told police he touched her inappropriately during a medical exam for back pain at the American Medical Associates office at Chandler Boulevard and Cooper Road.

A few days after the appointment, the patient received text message apologies from an unknown number. Calls to the number went to voicemail, with a man identifying himself as Dr. Hassan Khan in the outgoing message.

“I am extremely apologetic, regretful and embarrassed about our last interaction. Your respect and honor is sacred to me. I am embarrassed to even speak with you as I should have been so much more thoughtful and respectful,” one message said, according to court documents.

The patient contacted police the day after her appointment with Khan. She underwent a forensic exam that included a DNA analysis, which provided inconclusive results.

In September 2025, another woman contacted the Chandler police about Khan. She alleged that he performed oral sex on her during an exam for swollen lymph nodes in January 2025.

Khan contacted her afterward, and they arranged to meet for consensual sex multiple times, according to court documents. The woman also accused Khan of giving her sexually transmitted diseases.

Both women described similar behavior from Chandler doctor

Khan’s arrest is related to the incident in February 2025. The two women have no known connection, but police cited them both in the probable cause statement because the second report showed patterns of behavior similar to the previous accusations.

For example, both women said Khan used the phrase “do you mind?” while pulling at their pants during their exams. He also allegedly told both patients his wife doesn’t mind if he has romantic relationships with other women.

As of Friday morning, Khan was listed as chief medical officer for American Medical Associates on the practice’s website. American Medical Associates is an internal medicine and behavioral health practice with offices in Chandler and Maricopa.

The Chandler Police Department is asking anybody with information about incidents involving Khan to call its nonemergency number at 480-782-4130 or file a report at the main police station at 250 E. Chicago St.
