12 animals rescued from ‘deplorable conditions’ at West Valley house

PHOENIX — One cat was found dead and 12 animals had to be rescued after being found in “deplorable conditions” at a Litchfield Park house on Monday, authorities said.

Authorities responded to a call at a house near Maryland Avenue and 136th Drive over reports of animal cruelty, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, 11 dogs and one cat were found abandoned at the house, according to ABC15. Another cat was also found dead at the home. The animals were living in a house with no air conditioning and other poor living conditions.

The MSCO said the animals were taken from the home and are safe and receiving care.

An investigation remains ongoing.
