Cardinals game to cause heavy traffic in West Valley on Halloween

PHOENIX — The combination of Halloween and a rare midweek Arizona Cardinals football game will make for a busy Thursday afternoon for West Valley drivers.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning drivers to anticipate a longer than normal commute on Interstate 10 and the Loop 101 in Glendale whether they are driving home or to the game.

ADOT is encouraging drivers from north Scottsdale and the East Valley that are headed to the game to use Loop 101 instead of I-10.

The Cardinals’ game against the San Francisco 49ers is scheduled to kick off at 5:20 p.m. at State Farm Stadium.

Game day parking lots open at 1:15 p.m., and the Cardinals are asking fans to arrive by 3:15 p.m. to avoid the most extensive traffic.

For those attending the game, the Cardinals are offering some Halloween activities.

There will be trick-or-treating before the game, and costume contests and a Halloween halftime show during the game.

All Cardinals pregame activities run until 30 minutes before kickoff.
