Car accident in Phoenix leaves nearly 1,300 without power

PHOENIX — A car accident on 32nd and Roosevelt streets caused enough electrical damage to prompt a power outage in Phoenix on Sunday evening.

Nearly 1300 customers were without power when the crash first took place at 1:55 p.m.

Officials said that the power outage could last through midday on Monday, but they hoped all power would be restored by 12 p.m.

According to the APS power outage map, 518 were still without power at 3:00 p.m. Monday.

APS will also reimburse customers who bought bags of ice to keep perishable items from spoiling, said APS spokeswoman Suzanne Trevino.
