PHOENIX — Traffic on both directions on the Interstate 10 has reopened on Monday night after being closed for several hours due to blowing dust and reduced visibility, the state department of transportation said.
I-10 was shut down between the US 191 intersection and Lordsburg, New Mexico, starting Monday afternoon. The closure is a total distance of 62 miles.
The closure began at 4 p.m.
Both eastbound and westbound traffic on the I-10 reopened on Monday afternoon, but traffic remained backed up on the roadway.

A crash closed a portion of westbound I-10 near San Simon earlier Monday. The crash involved two semi-trucks.
Drivers were urged to not wait for visual conditions to deteriorate. ADOT urged them to pull completely off the paved portion of the highway, turn off all vehicle lights and wait until conditions improve.
The windy conditions were caused by a low-pressure system moving through the state. Wind advisories were issued practically statewide until 10 p.m., with gusts hitting as high as 55 mph.
The weather system also brought some snow to the Flagstaff area.
