Body pulled from Grand Canal in Phoenix after late-night discovery

A body was found in a canal near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix late Tuesday, authorities said.

A body was found in a canal near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix late Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers responded to a call about an unresponsive man in the Grand Canal just before midnight, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

They located the individual and determined he was dead.

The Phoenix Police Dive Team and Air Support Unit were called in to help retrieve the body.

Police said there were no signs of foul play. Investigators are working to identify the man.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
