Bulls-eye! Phoenix joining Target’s loyalty reward program

PHOENIX – National retailer Target said this week it was adding Phoenix to its pilot loyalty reward program. Only five other cities are on the list.

Target Circle will launch in the Valley on Feb. 19, along with debuts in Denver, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Charlotte, North Carolina.

The free program had only been available in Dallas-Fort Worth for the past year.

Customers who sign up will earn 1 percent back on purchases that they can be redeemed later. And they won’t need a Target credit or debit card, either.

Members will also receive personalized birthday perks and will be able to direct Target donations to local nonprofits.

“We’re building deeper relationships with guests and serving up the most personalized way to shop Target yet,” Rick Gomez, executive vice president, said in a statement released Tuesday.

TechCrunch reported that the company’s credit card quarterly earnings hadn’t been growing.

Target has more than 30 stores in metro Phoenix and has a headquarters site in Tempe.
