Buckle up, buttercup: Here are ADOT’s best safety messages of 2018

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation has gained national fame for its witty safety messages displayed over the state’s roads.

The messages often incorporate holidays, popular movies or events happening around the Valley, like concerts.

The agency has asked for the public’s help in creating funny messages a few times, leading to gems like “Road rage gives you wrinkles.”

One of the internet’s favorite signs came with Beyonce’s tour stop in the Valley in September: “Crazy in love with drivers who use turn signals.”

The agency got some pats on the back for its Thanksgiving sign that targeted annoying driving behavior.

ADOT shared a video compilation of its best messages of the year on Wednesday.

ADOT doesn’t restrict its humor to just signs — it also spreads some laughs with the agency’s Twitter account.

When a man was seen in September playing his saxophone on the shoulder of Loop 101 (no, we still don’t know why), ADOT shared the photos and reminded Arizonans that the Valley’s highways are no place for unsafe sax.
