Seeing smoke? Crews working to contain brush fire in West Valley

PHOENIX — Crews from multiple fire departments were working to contain a brush fire in the West Valley on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire was approximately seven acres as of around 3:30 p.m. and located near Deer Valley Road and Grand Avenue, according to Surprise Fire-Medical Department.

Fire officials said the blaze was ignited by a vehicle fire and that crews were still working to prevent it from spreading.

However, they noted there is currently no threat to nearby homes.

In addition to Surprise Fire, the El Mirage Fire Department, Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, Phoenix Fire Department and Peoria Fire-Medical Department were on scene assisting.
