PHOENIX — A Valley-based mattress company will help produce hospital beds amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brooklyn Bedding is offering its services to produce thousands of hospital beds for the healthcare industry.

The company initially developed a mattress with a vinyl cover for truckers that would fit in sleeper cab beds. It contained a cotton cover that could absorb up top 60 gallons of diesel fuel to mitigate an environmental hazard in the event of a spill.

Brooklyn Bedding is also working to develop masks for doctors and first responders in Arizona.

“We got our samples made, and we got them in the hands of the right people, and we’re just hoping they’ll be able to provide some relief for some people,” Brooklyn Bedding owner John Merwin told KTAR 92.3 FM’s The Gaydos and Chad Show on Tuesday.

Brooklyn Bedding is encouraging health and government officials to contact them directly if they’re in need of hospital beds.

The company can make the beds to any size and will ship to anywhere in the United States.
