Renovations underway at Brewers spring training facility

 
PHOENIX — Renovations at the Milwaukee Brewers spring training facility, costing nearly $60 million, will double the amount of square footage at the facility.

The Phoenix Business Journal got a first hand look at the renovation, expected to be completed by the beginning of spring training in 2019.

Maryvale Baseball Park, located on the corner of Indian School Road and 51st Avenue, became the spring training home of the Brewers upon opening in 1998.

The team made a deal with the city of Phoenix in 2017 to stay at Maryvale for 25 more years.

Funding for the $56-60 million dollar project will be coming from multiple sources.

The city of Phoenix will be contributing $2 million per year for the next five years, and the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority will be contributing about $5.7 million towards the renovations.

Texas-based HKS was the architect of the renovation while Mortenson Construction, based in Chandler, was the construction manager for the project.

The Brewers are one of 15 teams that compete in Cactus League baseball during spring training.
