PHOENIX — As all Phoenix residents know, Valley summers are hot — scorching hot. With temperatures reaching as high as 120 degrees, sometimes being outside is simply unbearable.
For us humans, we get the opportunity to escape the heat with some air conditioning, a Polar Pop or even a dip in the pool. Unfortunately, many Valley animals are not so lucky.
Jared Piper from Phoenix witnessed some of the horribly cruel conditions a neglected dog can go through, as he watched his neighbor’s dog live his life tied to a chain outside for three years. One day, Piper decided to befriend the dog and document their blossoming friendship.
(Warning: The video includes some mildly disturbing content.)
Piper said he could not bear to watch the dog live life this way, chained and battered, so he convinced his neighbor to hand over the dog to him. With a little love and attention, the dog, who Piper called Rusty Diamond, gained a new sense of life and even a new “forever home.”
They say dogs are a man’s best friend, but Rusty proved that a man is just as equally a dog’s best friend.
