Bodies of man, girl found inside car parked at Mesa hotel

PHOENIX — The bodies of a man and a teenage girl were found inside a locked car at a Mesa hotel parking lot and police retrieved a gun from the vehicle.

Detective Nik Rasheta said in an email that officers were called Tuesday to the Country Inn and Suites near U.S. 60 and Power Road about 5:30 p.m.

Officers found the body of a 67-year-old father and his 14-year-old daughter in the car. Both died in what police were calling a murder-suicide.

Their names were not being released, as their next of kin had not been notified.

The two recently may have been been evicted from home or the hotel.

The incident was under investigation.
