Blake Masters takes double-digit point lead in Arizona’s GOP US Senate race, poll says

PHOENIX — Political newcomer Blake Masters’ lead in Arizona’s Republican U.S. Senate primary race has swelled to double digits with less than a week until the election, according to a poll released Friday.

An OH Predictive Insights survey had Masters at 36%, outpacing businessman Jim Lamon (21%) and Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich (12%).

The poll of likely GOP voters was conducted Wednesday. It has a margin of error of 4.3%.

“Masters is in a strong position with a fractured field and will likely be moving on to take on incumbent Mark Kelly,” OH Predictive Insights chief of research Mike Noble said in a press release.

Masters, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has steadily gained support ahead of Tuesday’s primary election.

He first took the lead in an OHPI poll in early July. Masters had 25% of the vote in that survey, which was conducted June 30-July 2 and also had a margin of error of 4.3%.

Lamon was at 18% and Brnovich, the early front-runner for the nomination, was at 14%.

Undecided voters fell between the two poll releases. The category made up 35% of voters in the early July poll and fell to 22% in this week’s poll.

A pair of other candidates vying for the nomination, Mick McGuire and Justin Olson, polled in single digits in both surveys.

The winner will face Kelly in the Nov. 8 general election.
