General manager accused of stealing $40,000 from her Black Canyon City business

A woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing $40,000 from the Black Canyon City business for which she was the general manager.

Detectives concluded there was $34,497.61 in cash that was unaccounted for, as other unauthorized transactions brought the total to more than $40,000, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO).

The business reported to authorities that “significant financial discrepancies” had occurred between September 2025 and April, which is when the investigation began.

YCSO said the discrepancies included “deleted financial records, incomplete documentation and missing deposits,” as well as “missing petty cash, tip-related funds, daily deposits and game machine revenue.”

Tracking the missing money led authorities to general manager Jennifer McPeak, 35, of Phoenix.

Authorities said there was also evidence of McPeak tampering with surveillance cameras around the time records were deleted.

McPeak was arrested without incident and booked on charges including felony theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and destruction of evidence.
