Bicyclist killed in accident at South Mountain Park in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A park that is popular with hikers in the Valley has been temporarily closed after a pedestrian died in a car accident on Sunday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Sgt. Vince Lewis said police have temporarily closed a gate leading to South Mountain Park in Phoenix after an unidentified bicyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle.
The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Police are conducting an investigation and it is unclear when the area will be reopened.
Lewis said park visitors should be advised to watch for emergency vehicles and personnel.
