Best for last: Duran Duran to close latest tour with Phoenix-area show

PHOENIX — Duran Duran is proving the old adage of “save the best for last” is still applicable when it comes to planning a concert tour.

In a Tuesday announcement, the band said it would close out its Paper Gods! tour with a concert in Glendale, Arizona.

The show is scheduled for Aug. 3, 2016 at Gila River Arena.

The tour is to promote the band’s latest album, “Paper Gods.” It was released in September and quickly climbed to the No. 10 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, making it Duran Duran’s highest-charted album in 22 years.

The English band first came on to the scene in 1978, but enjoyed booming popularity in the 1980s thanks to hits such as “Girls on Film” and “Hungry Like the Wolf.”

“Paper Gods” is the band’s 14th studio album.

Tickets for the show go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. A presale for members of the Duran Duran Fan Community will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. Those tickets will only be available through the band’s website.

For those that miss out on tickets in the Valley, Duran Duran will play a show in, relatively, nearby Las Vegas and two shows in the Los Angeles area in late July.
