Bernie Sanders to make Phoenix visit Thursday ahead of Democratic debate

PHOENIX — Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will make his first campaign stop in Phoenix on Thursday, less than two weeks before the city is set to host a Democratic debate.

The Vermont senator will hold a rally at Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 6:30 p.m., his campaign announced Monday evening.

The rally at the coliseum, located near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road, will be free and open to the public.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for the event and entrance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets aren’t required but an RSVP is encouraged.

President Donald Trump recently held a rally of his own at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Jan. 19.

Sanders is one of five Democrats left standing for the presidential nomination after Amy Klobuchar dropped out Monday.

The rally comes before the Democrats have a planned debate in Phoenix on March 15, two days before the party’s presidential preference election in the state.
